Default Timing Belt..when to change it?

Hey guys...just wondeirng when your supposed to change the timing belt on the s2k? I might get severly flamed for this because some guy said that he thinks there might actually be a timing chain in the s2k and not a belt...so maybe it doesn't need ot be changed (if its a chain)

I'll take the chance of being flamed...and just ask at what km range do I need to change the belt at? and how much does it normally cost??

thank you,
Kyle

It's supposed to last for the life of the engine - and it is a chain.

So no change required?

It may need an ADJUSTMENT every 60k miles or so, but you don't replace it.

It's an automatic tensioner. No adjustments possible, however, the tensioner has been known to go bad.

Nothing lasts forever. (Except maybe visiting relatives.)

The chain should probably last the life of the engine, but if you were doing a complete engine rebuild a new chain would be a reasonable idea.

beautiful! thanks guy!

I know with hondas...(well im sure any car) that when and if the timing belt brakes they can bend valves and mess things up pretty good..but im sure with the s2k..if it was a belt and was to break it woudl really mess things up...so at least I dont need ot worry about fixing it! yay thank you!
