timing chain cover
ok so i purchased a motor from a wrecked car, the crank pully has some damage to it(im pissed did not see this in the pics before i vought it) Anyhow i have an old valve chain cover that i am going to just swap in but how am i going to get a propper seal. Please help guys !!

here you can see the slight dent in it, the 2 pieces are suppose to be flush.

i have an extra valve chain guide cover, so i guess my question is how hard is it to get a good seal useing the honda bond ?

is it possible to remove the timing chain cover only get some honda bond lay a bead on the new one and pop it in ?
i really do not wantt o remove the head. Im thinkin the best way for me to go about doong this would be to remove the oil pan and old timing cover, flip the motor upside down clean the surface of old honda bond on the block and little part of the head, then lay a fresh bead slip the new timing cover in, let dry then do the oil pan the next day. sound good ?

You can try and do it without removing the head, the problem is going to be trying to get a good seal between the cover and the head. Even if you dont get a good seal on it worst you will have is a slight oil leak. Which at that point you would have to take the head off and seal it properly. Its worth a shot, and if it leaks after then you know you have to pull the head.

I hate to say this, but it looks to me like the cover is bent inwards not outwards.
Most likely the car was in an accident and the pulley got pushed in until it touched the cover.
I would put your pulley and spin the engine, I bet the other pulley got all bent out of shape.
