Default Tire Question

Hey everyone, I am in need of new rear tires. I currently am running 2006 AP2 wheels with a stock set up (F - 215/45-17 and R - 245/40-17). I am running star spec II all around. I was wondering if it would be "ok" to run 255/40-17 in the rear which I know should be no issue however Id be running Star spec III. The star spec II are discontinued, would this significantly effect the handling on the car running two different tires even though they are very similar? The fronts are more than 50% life still left, and are worn very evenly since I am pretty meticulous about the alignment of the car.

Thanks for the help, - Tom

You'll be fine

It might look a little funny since a standard 255/40 sidewall is a bit taller than 215/45

but you'll be fine.

Adding grip to the rear is never a bad thing.
