Default Toda Flywheel

I took my car to a Honda Mechanic to replace my clutch kit including a toda flywheel. When he came to install the starter motor, he found a problem to fit it in, He said the starter motor needs modification on the gear wheel which cranks the flywheel. I did a full search on here and didn' find anyone having this problem. He also added that the Toda flywheel is thinner and thats what causing the problem. He also said that since mine is a EUDM spec most likely the flywheel was for JDM spec cars.

What should i do , is this possible.
My OEM flywheel part number is as follows 22100-PCX-005

Thanks
Evan

There is no issue with the fitment or use of the Toda flywheel.. many of us use them. They are the same for all markets. Either it is for a different engine or the mechanic has no idea what he is doing. I think I would find a new shop.

he said , looking at both wheels from the side, the teeth are not aligned.

could it be the flywheel was not fit properly ? making the teeth to close of the starter. he had to machine 3.5mm off the toothed gear of the starter motor

one other thing i would want to know is the part number of the OEM flywheel prior to installing the Toda. So i can match with mine.

All of the flywheels for the S2000 are interchangeable and none of them require a change to the starter. Your guy is confused in some way.

First off...there is no reason to remove the starter when doing a clutch. Only the upper starter bolt needs to be removed, as it threads into the transmission.

I've done 2 Toda flywheels in the past few months. It's plug and play, and requires nothing additional, not even bolts.

If he's already machined something, IMO, he has seriously misjudged something. PICS would be very nice here...see what you can do.

I hope he's not trying to put it on backwards.

thanks for all the output guys

the car is ready and drives and starts good.
Should i take it to another mechanic to check the flywheel and be charged again for the labour ?

Is the starter motor or flywheel different between EU spec, J spec or US spec s2000 ?
