Default toda flywheel TOO LIGHT for ap2?

I have a brand new ap1 toda flywheel sittin here....(I drive an ap2) just debating on whether or not to use it. The flywheel is obviously made soley for the ap1 but after talking to toda several times they kinda beat around the bush when I ask them if its ok to use on the ap2. they say mechanically will be fine and alot of people have ran this set up.... however for longeavity might not be the best idea.

1) should I just get a stock ap1 wheel and run that instead? my real question is... what would be the first thing to wear out/break if i run the 8 pound toda wheel for the life of the car.....

2) from ap2 to toda is a 15 pound weight change.. which is astronomical IMO for a flywheel change, would the quiker reving of the car even be worth the risk involved?.....

Im sure the toda flywheel will run fine etc... and I know people will come on and say run the toda.... but I havnt seen anyone that has left the toda in there ap2 and lasted a few years etc.

what should I do???..... the wheel will be with a stock disc/mugen pp

I would use an ap1 flywheel. The toda is right on the edge of too light for the ap1.

It all depends on how hard you want the car to drive. The lighter the flywheel the more you have to think about what you are doing when starting out.

IMHO this is a way to make a car 9 out of 10 of us would not like to drive if you make the flywheel too light.

The stock AP1 seems to be a good reliable alternative.

I don't understand the logic... the Toda works well on my ap1 and it seems it should on an ap2 as well. I would use it.

I don't see how a flywheel that's known to work fine for an AP1 would be an issue with an AP2.

I was told that the Flywheel has to do with the torque. If you ligten the Flywheel will you loose the Torque gain from the AP2?

What'll happen is the engine will have less rotational inertia, which is why a Carrera GT or F1 car can rev so quickly. It also means you cannot rely on the rotational inertia as much to get the car moving from a stop. So you have to be better at balancing clutch engagement and throttle opening, or you'll potentially stall the car.

The ap2 flywheel is about 21lb and the ap1 flywheel is about 14lb. The Toda is 9.2lb.

I know when I switched to the Toda on my ap1, it took some getting used to...I stalled the car a few times and even today if I'm slow on the upshift, rpms drop enough to cause the car to lurch.

That was a change of only 5lb. I can only imagine how dramatic the driving experience would have changed if the weight difference would have been 12lb!
