Default Too much oil?

I recently switched to Mobil 1 at 50k miles. I initially put in a little over 5 quarts and a week later added about 3/4 of a quart to bring the level back up. I checked it tonight and the level was a bit over the "full" line. Is this a huge deal, because I have been driving it for a week with this much oil in it...

Next time post both questions on 1 thread instead of cluttering the board.

What the heck does this mean? Your "bit" may be totally different from someone else's definition of "bit".
A better question will get you a better answer (or even an answer at all).

My definition of "bit" is this: I put in a total of 6 quarts. The reason I put the extra one in is when I checked the oil a couple days after I switched to synthetic, It was 2 x's down, so I added another quart. Now it appears to be too full, if this makes any sense...

I apologize, In the future I will try to rephrase my questions so they are easier to understand. I still do plan on buying a membership though Regardless, what is the best way to get a small amount of oil OUT of the engine, or do I need to do another full change? Could I have cause any serious damage by being 4/5 qt over? Now I am a bit scared...

I appreciate your PM, so I'll elaborate.

I've always considered that 1/2 qt. over was about the limit. You are likely just slightly over that. An overfill can cause severe problems when the bottom of the crank slams into the top of the oil. This will foam the oil and cause it to froth up. Foamed oil does NOT lubricate, cool nor does it pump well. No need to explain what harm this can do. However, all crankcases are designed to have a certain oil level as that equilibrates once the outgoing pumped oil stops lowering the oil level when the incoming oil begins to fall back down. This is generally at operating temps when flow can be more calculated. You aren't driving the crap out of the car when the engine is cold anyway, so no big deal here. But if you have too much of an overfill, then the amount being sucked out isn't enough to offset the amount falling back down and the level is too high. That's when spirited driving will foam up the oil (a bad thing).
You can easily drain off a 1/2 qt by jacking up the car and carefully removing the drain plug till about the right amount comes out. Hold the drain plug handy at the drain hole so you can quickly screw it back in once enough oil has come out. Make sure the engine is cold so you don't burn your hand. Torque the plug back up and wipe off the area and re-check level.

NOTE: Keep in mind that your oil level can be ANYWHERE between the "H" and the "L" (add) mark and the engine will run fine. Just know that it takes ONE qt. to get from the bottom line to the top line (ALL 5 x's). If it's in between, you know that ONE qt. will be too much. Best thing to do is the check the oil frequently and when it gets to just below 1/2, you know that if you put in 1/2 qt, you wil be almost right on.
