Default Too Much Tranny fluid?

Is over filling the tranny fluid bad for car? I think my mechanic might have done it

Its impossible to overfill if the car is level. You fill it up and until it starts to drip out the filler hold. What makes you think your mechanic did something wrong?

I've routinely overfilled mine by as much as 200cc. Another board user discovered that on hard right turns, the tranny fluid pickup comes out of the fluid.

Trust me he did. He put little less than 2 quarts of MT-90 in my tranny. (the car was on a lift) . do i need to go back and drain out a little?

It can take up to 1.95 liters, which is pretty close to 2 qts. Don't worry about it.

ps. If it was on a lift, lifts are usually level. How can he put more than to the level of the fill hole? That would be about 1.75 liters (or about the same in qts.).

when i first changed mine i opened the fill bolt first to vent out air so that the draining would be easier(i thought) and fluid came spilling out of there so im guessing it depends on the lift to but there might be more than 2quarts or just about 2 quarts in there. bucause i cant quite fit 2 bottles in there but i just shove it all in and cap it as fast as i can.

haa. ok this is what we did. He got a long hose and he put one end in the tranny and the other in the MT-90 bottle. Climed on top of the lift and turned the bottle upside down and punched a hole with a screw driver. he then raised the bottle up high (still on the lift) while he squeezed each bottle empty. so not only the gravity helped but also squeezing the bottle.

If the car is on a level lift, the excess WILL fall out.
