Any updates here?
Funny you should ask! I've been focusing on my 260Z lately and hadn't touched or driven the S2000 since the 9/11 track day. Today I finally drained the oil and got a sample which I'll be sending out to Blackstone tomorrow. The results of the oil analysis will dictate the path I take.
I sent out my results the same day as you and got mine back today. Any updates from the UOA?

USPS was closed last Monday due to Columbus Day so I didn't get to a chance to send it out until Wednesday. Looks like I may have a couple more days of waiting!

Not a great result on the oil analysis:

I think I would bore scope the cylinders to check for scoring.

Agreed, it doesn't sound like bearing wear to me. Iron doesn't come from the cylinders as they're FRM liners. The crank, and the cams are the only steel parts in the engine, the rest is aluminum. Have you pulled the valve cover to check it?

If it was the crank you'd have bearing metal wear.

My guess is that the sandblasting or whatever you did with the valve cover scored the cylinder walls. The "tick" that you hear is the piston slapping and it is getting worse because one or multiple are pretty bad. Next thing to go will be the bearings as the wear metals accumulate in the oil.

Unfortunately if I am correct you will need to sleeve the block or buy a whole new block.

Thanks for the info guys, good ideas there. The VC has not been pulled since the last event. I will pull the cover and scope the bores to see if I can find any smoking guns.

I'm prepared to replace the motor, as I plan to track the car more and more in the future.
