Alex, that was my thinking, exactly, but that idea went out the window when the same results were seen with my TB on another car. Wiring errors just don't jump cars This seems to be one of those rare cases where the facts (up to that point) lead you down the wrong road.

My best guess is the fault is intermittent, so when I checked the TPS values directly one day, they seemed fine (even though the engine still lugged), but when I checked the values at the ECU the following day, the true error began to rear its ugly head.

[b]Suggestions on where I can pick up new TBs for a low price greatly appreciated. I might as well pick up a bored TB for that price, assuming it comes with a TPS.

A new TB assembly has been ordered for a reasonable price (well, as reasonable as OEM pieces go). One of the local guys worked out a great deal with a semi-local dealership, so I paid about $470.

It's not an expense I was counting on, but hopefully this will get me back on the road.

That's not right, WTF does the entire TB have to do with screwing up the voltages at the ECU?

a new TPS sensor can only be ordered with a new throttle body. the alignment of it is set at the factory and the TPS can not be ordered seperately.

But what does the actual body have to do with the operation of the sensor? As Mac said, the voltages are within the proper range coming from the sensor, but not at the ECU (if I am interpreting properly). What about an aftermarket/generic sensor?

I guess discussion about this is a little late as the new TB has already been ordered.

As I mentioned before, it doesn't make much sense to me, either. However, it's difficult to argue with the fact that the problem moved to another car when the TB assembly was moved over to it, then disappeared once the original TB was replaced.

For $470 + S/H I'll let you have the old TB so you can figure it out

Did you ever try watching the voltage sweep through the range of throttle movement? It's easier to watch with an analog meter, but still possible with a digital.

I did my best to make several measurements over the range, including idle and WOT. Idle was the only one I could see that had a problem. I remember after bringing the car back from Autozone (where they pulled the CEL code), I wiggled the TPS and butterfly valve a bit, removed and reattached the connectors, etc. At that point, the car operated fine. I continued to drive the car for a week or so without issue, then it started back up again. I reinstalled my original TPS since swapping the TB with Richie's car, and it won't stall... it lugs way below the correct idle rpm value, but not so low that it stalls.

The TB is supposed to come in Friday, so I should have more info coem Friday afternoon.
