Default Tranmission issue

hey guys, i am having issues with my ap1 trans. when i am driving and looking to shift gears it is very difficult to enter the up coming gear. my foot is 100% depressed on the clutch i know this, yet it still is very difficult to enter say 2nd gear. i hear grinding once and awhile if i go to pull down into second or even to push up into 3rd. to prevent this i just put the car from 1st to N then shift to 2nd gear. does this sound like a synchros problem? anyone had the same issue?

also if it does mean that i need to rip apart my trans, would it be more adventagous to replace the entire trans? i can get my hands on a ap2 trans for a good deal. is the swap difficult? harness need to be changed? drive shaft flange? anything?

obv, i will do the clutch when its out.

thanks for the help fellow s2k'rs

Sean

Seems like a synchro problem. Try to double clutch before putting it into the next gear. It should make shifting easier.

i have some what of the same issue, i can go in to gears but its rough i did try the GM syncromesh trany fluid and it helped but after 5k miles its back im about to, change the fluid again and bleed the clutch fluid and clean the slave cyl. and see if it helps, but does any one know if they make a syncro package for the S?

Sean sounds to me like your clutch slave cylinder is not pushing the clutch all the way down to properly shift into gear. Have someone push the clutch as your looking at the cylinder on the tranny see if its moving about an inch or more . and check the condition of the fluid as well..

I doubt you would have bad syncros on all those gears at one time. I think your clutch master cylinder is going bad, have you noticed it leaking ? (check for leaks under dash by clutch rod), low fluid in the clutch reservoir, bad/leaking slave.

how about the clutch slave cylinder? I've had one go out on other cars and shifting was just about impossible without first pumping the clutch pedal several times.

good luck

^^ I would adjust the pedals first before throwing money into the car. It's a relatively quick job (<5 mins)
