Default tranny question

i just got my s2k less than a week ago. it only has 200 miles on it and when i go to shift in 1st 2nd and 3rd it is very difficult and almost sounds like its grinding. i thought that i just didn't press the clutch down far enough so i made sure i was and it is still doing it. if i double clutch it goes in fine. i asked the dealer about this and they said that its normal. any ideas from the pros out there

Just be sure you are pushing the clutch in all the way.

The grinding you're getting, on my car it was more like a crunch, between 1st and 2nd is pretty much a universal trait for the S2000. At 22k+ miles, mine still does it a "little" when the transmission is cold. Once it's warmed up, the problem is all but gone. I've never felt anything out of the ordinary while shifting to third but others have complained about it on the forum from time to time.

It's not surprising that your dealer would call it normal. I agree with Racer though, that's BS! It sounds like your car is a bit worse than what's "usual" in this kind of situation with the S2000 and it might not hurt to try a different dealer.

Good luck,
Steve R.
