Wink trans swap, engine cradle isn't lowering ****

Putting my tranny back in, and its fighting me so much. I'm on 4 hours sleep so i know i'm -80 IQ right now.. but i've done this so many times..

i have all the bolts backed out 2" or so, but the engine cradle isnt dropping the entire way, the cradle backs down the the very front bolts..

i'm think thats my issue, the pilot bolt isn't level with the shaft..

i dunno, throw some ideas out, maybe my ah duh light will click on

and yes, i'm taking a nap.. i just ate 6 crispy wings and mashed potatos/gravy from kfc like a happy fat kid on christmas

there is 6bolts in total 2 need to be completely removed and the other 4 should be lowered 3inches. Sometimes the sub frame can get binded on the front 2 bolts, maybe jiggle it loose, also stiff suspension bushing can add some resistance but since the weight if the engine is on the cradle i doubt that is even an issue. Also make sure the steering rack is disconnected. this all prolly is elementary to you and im not trying to insult your ability, just trowing out some random tips

I encountered a problem when reinstalling my transmission: the engine had tilted forward, putting the top rear too close to the firewall. I used the service jack and a short piece of 2x4 to raise the front of the engine. Then the trans went right back in easily.

does the steering rack need to be complete off, maybe its too tight, its slid down the splines, so i doubt its getting cought up on that, i think also the engine isn't titling to much, gonna try doing that with a spare jack, see how much i can tilting it

Best to fully disconnect the steering rod. The universal joint slides far enough. Just make sure you use some sort of marker on it so you realign it properly the first time.

The sterring rack needs to be completely disconnected. The splines slide more forward than down...so you are likely bending the crap out of the rack right now.

Pull the key out of the ignition too, before disconnecting the rack, or you will break the clockspring should the steering wheel be allowed to rotate while disconnected.

alright, trans is in, steering rack is fine, i must have been just way to tired, doing a brake job as well, new rotors, pads, rebuilding the calipers.. had a feel the drivers side was frozen, and it is..

wont be around to here any replys, but i'm gonna try hooking up some compressed air blowing that in, 100lbs or so, is that doesnt work.. ug.. new calipers as well..

on a side note, rotor set screws, s2000 is the first car ever that these haven't been a pita. thumbs up.

alrighty, wow my brake calipers are very very sized. I couldn't even move them with 80-100lbs of compressed air, had to put the calipers back on and push them out hydraulically(if thats even a word)

so my s2000 must have been a sitter.. the calipers were so rusted, the pistons have massive rust, i have a sand blasting cabinet, hone tools, etc.. gonna try to do a full write up on rebuilding the calipers as i teach myself how to as well... lol
