Default Transmission Drain Bolt Part Number

Hi all. Tackled a transmission drain/fill over the weekend and noticed that the last person to have done this job used normal washers rather than crush washers on both the drain and fill bolts. I can’t get the washers off the drain/fill bolts (they will not slide off nor can they be unscrewed) so am looking to simply replace the bolts. However, every Honda parts site I’ve checked (and even my local dealership) is recommending a part that does not look like the one on my car.

The drain bolt recommended by both web searches and my local dealer (92800-20000) appears by all accounts to have a hexagonal head, whereas the one on my car has a 3/4 drive female adapter similar to the transmission drain bolts on the CR-V or Civic. I do not believe my car had an aftermarket bolt, as a search of the forum indicates that others’ cars match mine.

Is the image for this bolt simply incorrect? I can’t imagine it would be a problem to just use the new bolt (though I would prefer the old one), but at this point I’m curious as to why the original was replaced.

Any feedback would be appreciated (particularly if you have a good method for easily removing the washers). My car is up on jackstands waiting for more transmission fluid rather than enjoying the warming weather until I get this resolved.

Yeah, that’s exactly what the bolts on my car look like. Those part numbers are for the crush washers though, and I’m looking to find if the bolt part number online matches the bolt you’ve pictured rather than a different bolt.

I think the 3/8 in. drive bolt pictured has a magnet on it as well.

You don't have a pocket flathead screwdriver? You can use that to lift the washer enough to unscrew them.

It doesn't. The transmission has a magnet, and its located at the front of the case. There is a big ass Allen bolt that serves as an inspection hole, and the magnet is right behind it.

The present bolt is a hex head, not the 3/8" socket drive original

Part number 92800-20000 supersedes the original 90132-896-750. If you want the original 3/8" socket drive one, you'll prolly need to check the salvage yards.

Good luck!

I'm planning on ordering in a couple of each of these bolts for stock - should arrive by Thursday and I'll confirm here what they look like. Will report back as soon as I know,

The washers can get stuck. My regular crush washer was stuck, too. Try to get a screwdriver underneath it and bend it, then bend the ****er off with a set of pliers. That's what I did and it worked.

Get a spoon magnetic engine oil drain plug.

It is the same thread as the transmission drain bolt.
