Default Trunk Light Not Working

Hi guys,

I am trying to fix my trunk light as it is not turning on. It used to always work, then it slowly only worked sometimes and now it finally stopped turning on. I have a video of the problem here: https://streamable.com/yql1za

So, I have the test light touching the positive side of the trunk light case. It has power flowing through the circuit, but the light bulb will not light up. Both light bulbs in the video have been tested and are working (I hooked them up to the license plate light socket and they work). I wonder if it might have to do with this diode on the back of the light case. I don't have a voltage meter at hand, but has anyone experienced this problem in the past?

Thanks for any insight!

The latch provides ground. Check that side of the circuit.

I'm also having an issue with my trunk light flickering. Hopefully, you fixed your issue. I have sprayed it with contact cleaner and attempted to remove the assembly for cleaning. I was able to remove it from the trunk, but I could not get it apart to the level that you show. Do you remember how you disassembled it?

The original light is incandescent. No diode needed.

Reverse the wires or the polarity and it should light up. LEDS are polarity specific.

The LED replacement works fine, and it is not a diode issue. It appears that the contacts are dirty and not making good electrical connectivity. If I jiggle the switch on the lock mechanism, it works. I am now looking for how to disassemble the lock mechanism to get to the contacts to clean them. Spraying contact cleaner on the assembled lock mechanism is not working.

I use
Deoxit D-100 Deoxit D-100
to clean and lube the contacts.

That is wonderful, but I'm asking for disassembly instructions ...
