Default 40,000 mile OCI UOA

Here is the latest UOA on my 2003 S2000 taken when the car had 353,310 miles with an OCI of 40,259 miles. The car has an Amsoil Dual Remote Bypass Filter and a prelube pump which was installed when the car was almost new.

As you can see, my car is consuming a lot more oil. It still starts easily and runs great. I put a new PCV valve in, but that didn't help the oil consumption. I'm reluctant to do any major surgery since it runs so well.

This car continues to amaze, the fountain of youth has been found, lol. Thanks for sharing the info, keep up the great work, this car is well on its way to 500,000 miles and beyond. You are only at .4 quarts per 1000 miles in terms of consumption, still an amazing feat on an ap1. Every other measurement is great too. Fantastic

Amazing! I simply don't have the manhood to leave oil in there for so long. I fall into the "oil = cheap insurance" kind of guy. Having said that, how do you drive your car? Hard? VTEC daily? Track? Any major repairs?

Here is a link to a discussion on my setup:

I had this written up here at S2KI.com as well but the thread got damaged and the initial write-up was deleted.

I don't drive my car very hard. Mostly highway miles. I enjoy spirited drives on occasion and I enjoy the twisties, but overall my car doesn't see much abuse. I guess that's why I did my first clutch job at 330,000 miles - the throwout bearing went out and there was still plenty of meat on my clutch plate.

Wow! The end of the day, shes still a HONDA. And my wife has been busting me for months to change the oil in her Altima at 5k that doesn't use a drop and she only drives .5 miles to work and back lol. I'll let her simmer for awhile longer lol. I kno it's apples to oranges, but she drives it like a tractor, hasn't seen over 55mph in over 1k miles. (I live in HI)

For what it's worth, it might be a good idea to regularly change oil on a car that does NOT see very many highway miles. At 0.5 miles to work, she probably doesn't get it fully warmed up, so perhaps lots of gas/moisture in her oil? Maybe the guru OP can comment with his opinion

I agree with Harry. Short trips will increase moisture, which reduces TBN. This could lead to sludge if you push it too far. If in doubt, get a Used Oil Analysis the next time you change your oil and ask them to check the TBN. If it's still healthy, then you have a good reason to increase your oil change interval.

I'm not seeing where you say how much oil was added over this interval? Am i missing it?
