Default Trunk Release button in center console stopped working

My trunk release button in the center console stopped working yesterday, randomly. I can pop it using my keyless entry, just not the button inside the car. I have an aftermarket alarm system with an aftermarket keyless entry unit that has the trunk release which works fine, i don't know if that is a factor in this, but i've had it for about half a year now with no problems. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

It wouldn't happen to be a Clifford alarm, would it?

No, it's a CompuStar alarm. You think it's because of my alarm that the button isn't working?

This happened to me. What i did was pulled out the button to discovery the connection had come off in the back. If I remember correctly you can just pull the button out. In the back there is a wire that was disconnected.

I didn't do anything to cause this either, it just happened. So you may want to check it!

Well, Bass and I have the same alarm (I installed his, to be exact). My button stopped working, then a couple of months later so did his. He was over at another owner's house who had a remote for HIS alarm that just happened to work on the same code (yeah, I installed THAT guy's alarm, too). The other guy popped his trunk, Bass' popped as well and has worked again ever since. Something about the alarms gets in some odd mode and it takes a reset of some unknown sort to get it fixed...I haven't taken the time to reset my alarm in the hopes it works.

I'm saying it's a possibility and shouldn't rule it out...

I have the clifford and had some problems when I first installed it. If you connect the alarm outputs (doorlocks/unlocks, and trunk ) to the molex for the factory alarm it eleminates this issue.

Check the fuse first

there is a post on the factory alarm plug configuration.

Hope this helps
