There is a specialty tool that cost $19.60 + shipping, but you can use a big screwdriver to pry the bars.

Be careful when doing it with the screwdriver.

i wouldnt try it unless im wearing metal armor. go with the tool. it'll get the job done in like 2 minutes. safely too.
with the screwdriver you risk the spring flying off and poping you in the arm or even the nads if you aint got help holding the trunk lid up.

I removed the springs by hand.
It took two minutes. Not hard, just need a little elbow grease.

I don't recommend this. I walked away with two pretty deep cuts in both my hands.

Yea, I'm not very smart. I didn't stop after the first one cut me.

Are you changing the springs because you got a rear spoiler? I did and wished I left the factory springs in. The stronger ones don't fit as well and need to be adjusted about once a month to not squeak when opening. Also, they're not really that stronger. The original springs are strong enough for the spoiler's additional weight.

A pair of vice grips can work if you don't have the special tool. Beware of flying trunk springs though.

i will change mine tom, but il definitely consider Harpoo's idea of leaving the spring because its not that i open the trunk as much i open the door rather than running into more issues
