Default TSB-054 done - WOW!

I have to say it transforms the car. I've been procrastinating on doing this, but my warranty is up next month, so I finally took it in. They got the car in and out pretty quickly. Got back in and found a much lighter clutch pedal, more progressive engagement, and less noise! Highly recommended change, and relatively painless in terms of downtime on the car.

I really wanted to add a Toda flywheel at the same time, but they were out of them and I didn't want to wait any longer to get the TSB done, so I guess that $400+ will have to go towards the J's gears.

Is this TSB simply replacing the clutch plate, disc and the bearings?

My '00 tranny is making noise around 2-4rpm when I slow down...but I got no warranty!!! I think I should just upgrade
the clutch.. yea?

I think a TSB covers you regardless of warranty, right?

I had it done at Scott Robinson Honda in Torrance. The service was quick, although getting to the point of approval and having the appt scheduled could have been a bit simpler.

All that is replaced is the clutch disc (and I would assume throwout bearing). TSB-054 states that dealers have some discretion to do good will repairs out of warranty, so give it a shot.

Didn't they say exactly what was/were replaced?

A TSB is not a recall. It is just a bulletin that describes a common repair. The dealer can refuse performing the repair whether you are under warranty or not if they can't reproduce the problem.

Go to the library and read the TSB. Somewhere in there is says something like "for cars that are out of warranty, you may want to do this TSB as a good will gesture, at the discretion of your DSM" or something like that.

So you might be able to get it done under warranty.
