Default TSBs and Recalls for S2000

Hi everyone,

I was hoping someone would help me find out where I can find out what Technical Service Bullitins or recalls have been issued for a 2001 S2000. I went to my dealer today and gave the service manager my VIN No., but he refused to give me any info, saying that it would take too long for him to go all the service records of all the cars. When I mentioned the spark plug recall I read about on one of the forums here, he suddenly remembered about that. I think he just wants to get away with doing as little work as possible. Can anyone help please? Thanks!

He is an @$$ get another "service manager". If you are looking for a TSB check library.

I think the spark plug recall is the only recall that has come out. All the TSBs are NOT treated as recalls, so dealers don't just do them automatically. A TSB is just a special bulletin that is published for the dealers to do certain repairs. TSB's do not automatically entitle anyone to a repair if it is not necessary. For example, if you can't prove to the dealer that your 2nd gear is grinding, then the dealer is not required to replace the 2nd gear set, even though there is a TSB for it.

Basically, if you don't have anything in particular that they need to fix, don't take it to the dealer.

Thanks S2KYSK and Gernby for your replies. I dropped off the car at the dealer just now and they will be taking care of the spark plugs. I asked them to look into why I am having difficulty getting into second gear and reverse. I did notice there was a TSB for the reverse gear and 5th gear on the NHTSA website, but I didn't read anything on the second gear. Also, there is a clunking noise when getting off the clutch and accelerating in first gear. I did notice a TSB for that. Hopefully they will be able to duplicate that noise. Anyone else notice the same problems? There is more interior rattle than when I first got the car, but I'm not sure if the dealer will do anything about that. There are also some crease lines in the rear plastic windscreen and there was no TSB regarding that either. Wish Honda just made a glass rear windshield from the start. Anyone know how TSBs are issued? Does it just depend on there being enough complaints from car owners? Thanks for your input!

If Honda tech support gets 1000 calls from dealers for the same strange issue, they issue a TSB ...

Hang tight. It will only be a matter of time before they come out with a rear glass kit or someone wads up a 2002 or 2003 then you can go to the wrecking yard and buy the top and swap it out yourself. Hell of alot cheaper than the hard top, which I love, and still cheaper than buying a new one, well maybe.

It is old news that the '02 top can be installed on the '00 and '01...
