Turbo or Supercharger? Seriously!
Turbo or Supercharger?
Im gonna build my s2k (FI)....but which one is better?
What are pros/cons?
Im a newbie here...so I have lots of q's...sorry..moderators...
Thanks!

without a doubt, a turbo is better than a supercharger in every way except for two things: Cost, and installation.
A Turbo setup is more complex, but more efficient and powerful. Do a search, and you'll find out a lot of comments on Vortech and Comptech supercharges, and the speedcraft turbo.

S2K_Ownz It's really personal choice and what you want to get from the set-up,
a turbo can release alot more gee-gee's down low but cost's more money i.e. lots of engine work to get the most BHP, whilst a supercharger gives power progressivley most of it at the top end of the scale but I would say that a S/C is more engine friendly and reliable unless you don't mind going to town on you block.
Please don't anyone think that I am trying to push a certain product, I have the same problem about what road to take
I just have no idea this is just my personal opinion.

What does our car lack? torque. I say if yiu have the money, get a well desgined turbo kit because you'll get the top end and more mid-range torque that only the turbo can offer. I am going turbo this spring. I really like the Vortech and Comptech units but it isnt for me. A quick spooling turbo will yeild great power, little lag, and more torque. Research and make your own decision.
SC's keep the same FEEL and style of the car. The higher the RPM's the more power/torque you have.
Turbo's totally change the syle of the car in that way tuned to give more low end torque.(least that is the way MOST have setup the cars as of yet)

Superchargers :
Pro :
Easy Installation
Less Expensive ($4200 vs. $5500-$6200)
Bigger Companies Producing Them (Comptech & Vortech vs. Speedcraft & Stage 6, though I have heard all are 1st class)
Con :
Progressive Power Addition (Less torque below 6000 RPM)
Parasitic Power Loss (Takes power to make power, as it uses the engine to drive pulley and supercharger, less efficient than Turbo)
Turbo
Pros :
More Power Than SC (More efficient, uses exhaust to power turbos, not engine)
More Potential (Debatable but in most standard setups turning the PSI on turbos yields better results)
Cons :
$$$
Heat (Usually runs hotter than SC's)
Complexity (More difficult to install than SC)
Personally, if you have the cash, time, knowledge & patience the turbo might be a better bet

I will. see thread below. 328rwhp corrected and 348rwhp uncorrected @ 6psi. Unbelievable kit.

see pics and dyno sheet
As far a lag is concerned, the SpeedCraft kit uses a small T60-1 turbonetics turbo that has very little lag and the kit I just showed you uses a true dual ball bearing HKS GT turbo that doesnt lag very much at all.
