Turbo vs. Supercharger
I am sure that there have been many discussion threads on this and I apologize for starting another, damn if the search worked......
I am a pretty non-technical car person but was wondering what people thought about adding a turbo or a supercharger to an S2K? Specifially what one is more expensive, which one gives the car a wider power band with the most improvement in the low RPM range, which one has more or less maintanence involved (periodic tuning, etc.), which one has less hassle, and finally which one is most preferred?
I essentially want to be able to take an S slap on some mods and then just enjoy the daily ride
I am not looking at this debate from a heavy road racing or drag racing stand point. My car will be a daily driver that I just want to be able to pull up next to a cocky Mustang, camero, etc. owner on the highway and floor him.
Thanks for any replies.....

There was a seminar sponsered by the Honda Club in So Cal last weekend on this very topic. Based on my extremely limited understanding...turbos will generally give you more high RPM, high end boost, while the SC gives you more at the lowend. The speaker, Oscar (somebody) from Jackson Racing emphasized the imprtance of looking at the "area under the curve" not just the peak HP and Torque. Then match the characteristics you are looking for with the characteristics of the Turbo or SC. Hopefully one of the many more knowledgeable people who were there will read this and chime in...

Your options for the S2K are very limited right now.
Unless you build a custom turbo...you would probably want to go with the speedcraft turbo from the guys at speedcraft in Florida. It pushes 6 psi on low boost and gives the best performance for the S2k...with boost coming on around 3000 rpms. There are 2 supercharger options right now....comptech and vortech. They are both centrifugal superchargers and build max boost at redline...this follows the s2k's natural power curve but gives little in the low end. The vortech has an aftercooler and pushes 8 psi giving a little more power than the comptech.
Sounds like you would want the speedcraft..i haven't heard of any complaints and it seems like a good quality kit however it will cost you around 8 grand. The superchargers will cost you
4 - 5 K plus install.
Good luck!

See my other post but Dwight formerly of Speedcraft has opened anothere shop called Stage 6 Motorsports (904 777-3250) and will continue to fabricate and install (and tune) the turbo set up. He is also currently working on a setup with a target price of $5K or less and he will NOT sacrifice quality. Stay tuned....
