Guys, last month I spun off the road and over a rock and into a pile of dirt. Visible damage was dirt inside my rims, bent lower rear tie bar(Comptech's). I cleaned out the wheels and continued on. I then took it to my favorite shop for an alignment and to replace the bent bar with stock. I am now experiencing a loose rear end. What I mean by this is that at high speeds it feels like it wants to break loose...squirrely, twitchy. When I hit bumps it feels like it jumps from side to side.
Does anyone out there have an idea what might be causing this problem? Someone suggested a bent strut. I need some feed back, please help. Thanks!

 

You bent a comptech tie bar? Looks like it is brittle and would break first before bending... Maybe your sway bar is bent too.

 

How much tread do you have on the rear tires?

 

Sounds like the rear toe is out to me.

 

Rear toe in will do the same, but checking the tread depth is pretty easy.

 

The tires are brand new..Toyo Proxies TR1s. Any other suggestions? I'll have the alignment done again, but doubt that is the cause, we were very particular about getting it right and by all indications it's back to spec.

Mine also does this at high speeds. Two things I'm in desperate need of....Tires and an alignment. My car has never been wrecked or ran off the road.

 

I believe HECASH is on the right track however I would recommend the Upper A-Arm. If you are mechanically inclined it is fairly easy to get to both the upper and lower in a day. Do a side by side (over under) comparison from the right and left sides and you should find your problem. HECASH may be right on the bottom A-Arm but the top one is AMAZINGLY non-robust and I've seen another "twist and shout" after hitting curbs during rim damaging excursions. I know you already know the basic tire pressure tread BS so I won't mention the obvious. My vote is Upper A-Arm distortion.
