Wich ones do you intend to use?

My information (from the Australian agent) is that though there are different compounds, it's dictated by the tyre size. That is, each size has only one compound. The reason is the weight of cars typically fitted with a certain size.

If this is wrong, I'd love to hear about it, since I have some 205/50R16s on order for my WRX.

I think you're both right. Have a look at the Bridgestone Japanese site. Some sizes are available in various compounds, others not so.

Most sizes are avaiable in GS (soft) and S (medium) and R (hard).
As an example, in 205/50R16 are avaible in GS and R.
Try another dealer.

... anyway, I was thinking about S for the front and GS for the rear, or may be S on both.

Can anyone translate this for me? Mingster? Takashi?

Paulo, are you game to try these out or do you want me to be the guinea pig?

Luis,

As you probably remember I put a post on the Portuguese Forum, asking for any feedback on these tyres. At the time the answers were not conclusive, so I dicided to let some more time pass before trying anything.
Since you are so determined to go aheadwith this, I'll "allow" you to try it before me.
By the way, where are you going to buy those tyres?

I can

The top diagram is divided according to racing type and temperature.

The two rows are Gymkhana and Circuit, and across the top we have first wet, then dry conditions with temperatures ranging from very low to mid/high.

The bottom picture just elaborates on that. GS seems to be a new compound with a better temperature range than G. According to this G and GS shouldn't be used for more than one lap sprints on a racetrack (unless it's really really cold).

Since Australia never gets cold, I'm assuming they only import the harder ones in my size. I think the same might apply to Portugal. It looks like you can use Type R in anything from "low-mid temperatures". It gets pretty cold in Japan so I think that "low-mid" is about as cold as it ever gets in Australia or Portugal.

If I were you I would definitely not get GS, they are too soft for circuit use or hot weather. S might be OK, but R is the most suitable from this. Remember that R will still be a lot softer than any road tyre.

Can't remember having discussed this. Must have been after I gave up following the forum.

No, it was long before that.
You're right. For the stock wheels it's dificult to get a good fit, specially on the rear.
So, you are going to Jeres. Lucky man.
I hope that we can go to Estoril. Hope that this time is for real.
By the way, I would like your opinion on what size should I get, with stock rims, for a set of GoodYear F1 ?

Hi guys

I saw someone with 225/50R16 rears at our HSCC track day. They must be available, but maybe you just have to wait? They looked wide enough, about the same as the OEM S02.
