Unorthodox Pulleys for S2000
I haven't seen any electric water pumps on the S2K yet.
I believe Comptech welds an additional belt race/groove onto the stock crank pulley, so they wouldn't be removing the dampener if that were the case - but don't quote me, I haven't looked at the pulley up close.
Honda 4's are indeed strong and well balanced, but when you begin to greatly exceed design specs, even they can benefit from true harmonic dampeners. I know of one normally aspirated Honda racer that is spinnning a 2.0 liter B-series engine to over 10,500 rpm. They weren't having reliability problems, but they did see performance benefits by adding a fluid filled damper, but I can't talk about specifics.
