What is the consensus with the longevity of the Kraken Upper VTEC solenoid gasket compared to the Honda OEM ? (which the Honda OEM is of course not presently avalaible for purchase separately from the completed spool valve assembly)

I have the Kraken gasket on standby should my Upper Spool valve show signs of leaking.

haven't heard anything about the kraken longevity, the oem lasts many years. the ballade ones, there are a few reports of those leaking terribly after 1-2 years.

Hey, I had my mechanic install a Kraken upper vtec gasket I had kept in a closet for 6 years as maintenance 100 miles ago and it won't hold a seal. Should I get another one or try the Science of Speed gasket? I've looked at the forums for feedback on the ScienceofSpeed part and haven't seen much. My mechanic wants to put on a Ballade which I don't want to do based on feedback.

Prolly best to buy rubber seals as you need them, rather than keep them in storage. Rubber does have a shelf life. If the seal is silicone, it has a longer shelf life.

I bought a Science of Speed one just now, maybe I'll call them & see if they have install tips. That's a good suggestion to use gaskets fresh, maybe it shrunk sitting around. I really need the issue fixed because its throwing vtec codes & oil out and I don't have the $ now for a $500 solenoid assembly.
