Default VTEC Solenoid upper gasket

VTEC Solenoid upper gasket-ftkedim.jpg

I recently put in a new valve cover gasket and noticed that the top gasket on the VTEC solenoid was leaking oil and is completely crushed (therefore no longer seals). A friend told me this part doesn't have a part number and I'll have to order a whole new solenoid for about $200...

The car does have over 103,000 miles now so maybe it's just time to replace the entire unit? I still cross over into VTEC just fine.

EDIT: Found a whole 'nother thread dedicated to this issue. Mods, feel free to delete or merge!

What I have done is cut up a cardboard cereal box in the same dimensions as the gasket and just placed it underneath so that it's covered by the flattened gasket. Even though the gasket has flattened the cardboard raises the gasket increasing clamping pressure against the mating surface and stops the leak. I was just using this as a temporary solution until I could afford a VTEC solenoid but so far after 4,000 miles it's still holding.
