Default Using oil - new S2000 owner

Hi guys, recently checked my oil after doing 1500 in the S2000 and the oil was very low on the dip stick, i used 800ml to get it back up to the full mark. Is this something I should worry about? Iv just left my job and cant aford to fix it if its going to be expensive! The car is 2001 ap1 with 100k on the clock.

Thanks guys

From what I have read, that is no issue. When I picked up my S2000, it was just reading on the bottom of the dipstick and Billman said it wasn't the end of the world, but obviously to keep it full.

it is a common problem for the ap1 s2k as they tend to burn oil. if you do a search on the forum you will find a lot more information about it.

Thanks guys i was searcghing on google but started to find things about valves needing resealing, heads being rebuilt and worn piston rings so i thought i would start my own thread, so nearly a ltr of oil every 1500 is OK for a early S2000? I might put it on a rolling road to see if its still making stock bhp, iv never had a car thats done 100k and im very paranoid haha

Are high compression engines prone to this?

My folks had an early 90’s Caddy that used oil from the first wee they purchased it until the time they traded it with over 250k on the clock. Never seemed to be an issue.

some of my guys have curbed oil burning by switching to castrol syntec.

Make sure you read BOTH SIDES of the stick (this should be a topic title, and sticked all over s2ki)

Was just on the phone with someone from California who spun a bearing and had no answer why....i explained to him he wasnt reading both sides and it cost him an engine. He agreed, and wont make that mistake again.

I burn like 1qt every 900-1000 miles but I switched to castrol syn and 1qt every 1100-1300 miles. still bad but better than before. I've tried mobil 1, valvoline(?), and motul 5000 but castrol has the best result so far.
