dyno it and find out....your going to have to go anyway to tune it. i lowered my vtec to about 5300 and that smoothed out my dyno graph and picked me up about 6 hp

You can safely set it lower. The ECU runs rich enough that it will be fine. The only thing you have to worry about is the AFR which should be fine.

well i just installed a wideband 02 sensor but the reason i was asking was because i have heard that if you set it lower than 5k you would have to adjust valves or else it'll start knocking is that true or was i told wrong information

not sure about that because i know some boosted s2ks with their vtec set in the 3k-4k range. no reason to lower vtec under 5k if your n/a since ur not making enough power. also when you adjust vtec i dont think my a/f were to diffferent with all the settings we tried but it either lost or gained power and thats y u have to hit a dyno.

I have a vafc and lowered it to 5400. It had a smoother curve a bit lower but on the highway don't want to be in vtec all the time.

But there was a nice power gain, make sure you adjust it around 5300-5600 if your NA as a recommendation. Also, please do this on a dyno.

I take it this is safe for an AP2 as well? Ever since I put in an AP1 flywheel I've been looking to lower mine because of how much quicker the revs drop on shifts.
