Default Valve Adjustment

I am going to do a valve adjustment on the car as the "ticking" has gotten a bit louder since the weather has gotten colder here. I was wondering if the outside air temp is going to affect the settling of the valves after the have been reseated, so much so that it makes doing to work pointless?

Thanks!

No it wouldn't effect it. Be sure when you do it you allow the car to cool off completely or that will effect the adjustment.

The official temp to adjust valves is anything below 38C (100F).
(what if you live in the Sahara or in Death Valley?)

While you're adjusting the valves have a look at the retainers.

Im going to have a local shop do it that has done a lot of local guys work. 170 for V/C GASKET , UPPER TUBE SEALS , V/C BOLT SEALS and adjustment. They are goin to keep the car overnight and store it in their garage and hook me up with a free loaner. Should I have them do a compression test while they are at it?

I would have them do a compression test only because its quick & easy. It's not really a 'while they're at it' type of thing.. more like, why the hell not.

I had this done last week with compression check at my favorite Honda dealer. <$200 (yes, I could have done it myself but it's freaking COLD in my garage....)

geez 200 bucks! They are quoting me like 70 bucks for a comp test. I checked them out at lunch since they are a half mile from work and they had 2 NXSs on the lift so im feeling pretty comfortable.

Ill keep you guys informed. Its going on monday and ill get it back on tuesday.
