valve adjustment, etc
ok I dropped it off at the dealer this morning. I had the tech come out and listen to the noise before I left. What do you know.. the noise was COMPLETELY gone. Idle was smooth as butter just like before (of course with normal valve and injector noise). This was the first time I have actually driven the car since I did the oil change and subsequently first heard the noise (while revving the engine a bit to get the oil flowing). I thought to my self.. wow I'm a dumbass.. maybe the oil just never got circulated well and now that I had actually driven it, everything was flowing and hot and the noise was nothing.
I left the car anyway and told the tech to come out and cold start it and see if he could hear the noise. I got a call at 5:30 to come pick up the car. The tech had cold started it several times and could not hear anything, similar to the nothing we didn't hear in the morning
So I drove the car home and didn't hear the noise. I figured everything was copesetic, and I spent the evening installing the K&N fipk that had conviniently arrived today. After, I took the car for a drive, let her warm up, then punched it a bunch of times to around 8400rpm to hear Satan unleash the deamons under my hood.
Get back to the driveway, pop the hood to check out the install, make sure no coolant leaking, etc.. the noise was BACK AND LOUD AS EVER!
I guess I'll take it back on sat morning and see if it will make the noise for a tech

I had the same problem. I just dropped my car off at the Honda repair center yesterday and made sure to keep the car running, went inside, and drug a technician out to make sure he would hear it. They said it will done today.
The ticking sounds exactly the same as yours in your audio file. I will post an update here when I get my car back.

I said screw it and drove it to work this morning. When I got here, I couldn't hear the noise. I guess if it comes and goes it can't be anything too serious like a bent valve, but I can't place any conditions on the noise.. cold start, hot, etc.
I await their diagnosis.

Have you gotten it down to where it is predictable?
Have you retraced every step you took when changing the oil? It seems like the problem may stem from that somewhere.

I had Honda perform Package D, (aka 30,000 mile package) which included a valve adjustment. They also said that the sound may have been coming from one of the belt pulleys so they lubed them. I got the car back and it sounded like a completely different car. Much much quieter and smoother and no more click.
