Valve adjustment issues...Please help!
I like Caig Deoxit D-5 spray or D-100 solution. Apply a little to connection. Work the cleaner into the junctions, by connecting and disconnecting a couple of times.

did a compression test yesterday. 1=240 2=235 3=225 4=155
so is it possible that if i got the valves to loose on cyl 4 would it cause the bad compression. Because the car ran fine before i did the valve adjustments, just had the misfire codes.

Likely not if too lose, but what could be happening is you have a bent valve and this is allowing compression to escape causing a low number. This is an interference motor. But you would have to adjust something pretty wonky tight for the valve to interfere with a piston and bend I would think, but who knows. Doesn’t make sense that it was fine before the valve adjust. I am suspect of that though given your misfire codes. Typically one cylinder misfiring will also throw a cel on the apposing cylinder so 1 &3 and 2&4. If you are having an issue on 1&2 or 3&4 then you will usually throw a multi misfire code. Your comp is lower on 3&4. 3 I wouldn’t think to be enough to be an issue however. Just some of my initial thoughts.
i did them in the correct order TDC and all. Followed these instructions https://robrobinette...ValveAdjust.htm used the special tool from amazon. I'm going to tear it back down tomorrow as long as it does not rain again. Wish i would have check compression before the valve job. I'll post what i find...if anything at all. I'm just at a loss since the car ran fine before, I would think it would have to b something I did.
well took everything back apart today. Everything looked fine. Put it all back together and it was still stalling out when i would rev it after the car warmed up. So I did the ECM idle learn procedure per the repair manual. Seems to have done the trick. Holds idle between 800-900rpm, drove it around the block and it didn't stall out at the stop signs. Letting the car cool off then I'll go out and start it again and see what happens. Still have the low compression in cyl 4 so I guess and leak down test is next order of business. Thank you all for your ideas and troubleshooting this with me. I'll update after I go back out and start it again.
Did you check compression im the sequence of 1, 2, 3, 4? Was your battery fully charged? Is your battery possibly weak?
I'm wondering if maybe your battery was dying, weaker for testing each cylinder, hence each cylinder read lower than the previous. Battery can have a dramatic effect on compression reading.
So perhaps your compression is fine, and relearn was your issue all along.

Well I thought the relearn was the idle fix, but idk now. I replaced the coils and now I have cylinder 4 misfire only and the idle was stalling out again. Did the relearn again since I pulled the back up fuse to reset the CEL again. I think the idle is smoothing out as the car warms up. Do not think the relearn is the fix. Now I've done everything to get rid of the misfire codes but still no luck. I'm thinking maybe if I have a slightly bent valve it could be the reason for the cyl4 misfire. But again.....IDK. I'm going to drive the car again today to see if the idle is going to stall out again. I was running fine the other day except for the CEL.
well drove the car, still CEL but it idled smooth from the start. So now its back to focusing on the CEL cyl4 misfire. And yes i did check the compression in sequence. When I did a second test after installing the coils and got the cyl4 misfire I started the compression test on cyl4 and still had the low reading, so I do not think it is the battery. I will say that I have the smaller battery from Password JDM. never had an issue except when it is really cold out. Not the best battery for our cars. It looks really smooth in under the hood but just does not perform as well as a norm battery.
