Default valve clearence specs

Does anyone know what the oe clearence specs are? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Starting to sound like a vw diesel engine. Need to readjust and tighten very quickly.

thanks

And to add...there is no way your valves are making THAT much noise. Valves from the factory are never off (loose) more than .001-.003 tops. Surely not enough to make noise.

The specified range is 0.008-0.010" intake and 0.010-0.012" exhaust. Many of us adjust our valves on the lower end of this range in the hope that we will gain a little power due to the tiny increase in valve lift.

the only reason the valves are making that much noise is because the block has been built bottom and top end. When built by the shop that built I think that they may have put them on the loose end of the specs and since then there has been 5k on the engine and a lot of hard revs over 10k. The block will hold around 11k on the tach. Crazy sounding yes I know. But I have set my limiters in the ems at 10,100 max. Thanks for the help and the specs.

Exhaust should be .010 or .011.

Oops, you are correct! Why am I not surprised ... ? I just checked the Helm manual and 0.012" is out of specification for the exhaust valve.
