Default Valve Spring Compressor Tool

I need to take apart my head and I was curious if anyone else has done this, and if so, what valve spring compressor tool did you use?

Thanks!

Chris

I recall that there were some special requirements for the valve spring compressor because it was so tight. I remember that the Snap on one worked, however. Should I get this one: #YA3271 ??

Thanks!

I Just had my cams out today to check the retainers. I've got a MAC tools spring compressor that looks just like the Snap-on YA3271. It looks like it would be tight, but should work.

Certainly the Snap-on YA9140 works, you have to alter the bridge where it mounts on the head a few times to get to all the valves but its no big deal.
The kit is robust and it did the job that I needed it for fine.

You only need a spring compressor to put the springs back on. To take them off, just put a piece of cloth over the valve/retainer, put a large size socket over it, and tap with a mallet, valve will fall right out. Don't do this with the head still on the block

With my luck I'd send a keeper 20 feet across the shop were it will refuse to be found.
