Default Valvetrain in ap1 and ap2

Will the valvetrain from an ap2(F22) work on a ap1 (F20) head? I know the cams have different durations, but will everything physically bolt up and work on either engine? Theres a guy selling a complete brand new valvetrain for a F22 for $300 and am curious if they will bolt up.

It will bolt up, but do not expect the car to make the power it would with F20 valve train. The F22 valve train is designed for a motor that revs 1000rpm less than the F20.

I believe the head itself is the same part number.
The cams and retainers (+ cotters) are different. I don't know if the cam gears and (chain) are the same though - you'll need to check the part numbers.
If the cam gears are different - you'll need to match your old cam gear to the AP2 head, and then AP1 cams should drop in. I'd stick with the AP2 retainers.

everything is the same in both heads! i would use the ap2 keepers and retainers! never seen them cracked yet! they say that the ap1 cams are more aggresive but im not sure.

what most people do is swap in an ap1 intake cam into their ap2. supposed to give a little more power but im not sure of the numbers.

There are a number of differences, including the retainers and cam profiles; The F20C uses staggered valve timing below 6k (the two intake for each cylinder have slightly different profiles) to promote swirl, while the F22C opens the intake valves in unison at all times, presumbaly becasue the larger displacement and larger bore don't need or benefit from the additional swirl. However, I'm not aware of any differences that prevent the heads from being swapped. If I ever get a chance to get an F22C shortblock cheap enough I'd like to shove it in between my F20C head and oil pan. As far as I am aware, there are no differences that would prevent this kind of swap.

I knew the cams were different as far as timing and lift, but what about the rest? I'm probably not going to get the stuff since it looks like it wont all work. I was going to get the stuff as a back up for my car(03) in case something happened. Id mainly be interested in the rockers, shafts, and stands. Wouldnt use the cams or springs since they are made for a lower rpm.

DBW cars use different cam sensors, reluctor plates and valve covers.
