Default Vented Hood and Hydrolock

1)Does anyone know the risk of getting hydrolock throught the CAI if I get a vented Hood (Don't know which yet, but probably Mugen)???

2)If this is the case, would an Air Bypass Vavle completely eliminate this risk?

Most, if not all, of the CAI's pull their air from outside the engine compartment. That's the point of the CAI. Therefore, having a vented hood shouldn't alter your chances of hydrolock versus not having the CAI.

Not to mention there isn't a bypass valve for Mugen style boxes.

Hydrolock can't happen from splashes. The intake has to be mostly (or completely) submerged, which means the water would have to come from the bottom, not the top.

I believe a few people install "rain guards", which I guess are just a water routing scheme. Just a thought...

Are you getting a Mugen vented hood or Mugen CAI?

Mugen vented hood has rain channels on its underside to guide water to drip at safety places. Although if you are running Comptech CAI, there's a small chance one of the rain channels might take water right to the top of box and into its prop rod opening. If this is the scenario, you might want to really look into it before you buy.

Mugen CAI should not be a concern to use with any vented hood since its opening is to the side - just behind and above the front grill, not underneath the hood.

Since you mentioned air bypass valve, I presume you have AEM / Ingen CAI and looking into Mugen hood...
