Default Version 1 Comptech Intake for 2002?

Sorry for the long post. I'm considering buying this used intake from a good board member here but neither of us knows for sure if there may be potential issues with the install of this old box on a 2002. He picked this unit up from someone else and never had the chance to install it on his own 2002 (previously supercharged with a comptech blower) so we're both unsure if it might be problematic. Did a search and came up with some partial info but wondering if it's worth the trouble?

Basically, who's installed one of these old units on a 2002+ and what did you do to make it work properly?

If you did:
1. Did you run into problems with hood clearance?
2. Did you have to modify the box by cutting it and where did you cut it? According to comptech's response, the box needs to be cut to allow the horn bracket to fit in there. Anything else?
3. Any other potential issues with the hood prop seat being curved versus cut out like the new design?
4. Lastly, any design flaws that make the new version better than the old?

Comptech's technical team response:
We have never tryed to fit the older fiberglass in a S2000 with a extra horn bracket. It should fit but you will have to trim a hole in the side for the
bracket.
Thanks

This pic below shows the difference in the design. The one on the left is the newer lid. The shape, lid screw attachment points and the hood stand base is different as you can see.

Thanks in advance

Hmm, I just installed the '02 version, and I'm not sure what needed to be 'cut' to allow the horn bracket to fit, since the horn gets re-located to under the intake box.

The kit includes a new horn bracket (incidentally, the installs on Comptech's site didn't match the sheet that came with the CAI), but I don't know if there are any other differences (still prolly have to move the air control solenoid, vacuum lines, coolant line, etc).

Sorry, to clarify, I meant putting a 2000-2001 intake on a 2002+.

I should have clarified - I put on the '02 kit, so I was just mentioning that one of the 'differences' I knew of from the pre-02 kit was the horn bracket, but based on what you did with the horn, there shouldn't have been anything to 'cut' on the air box.

Did Comptech support help?

It looks like cutting a new hole in the box to clear the horn bracket, or removing the horn bracket all together.

No worries, got what you were saying. It was actually more for anyone else who ran across the thread. Comptech support really just gave a partial answer only for the horn bracket.

Slows2k, do you think it would be worthwile just cutting the box?

Since Comptech cuts a hole in the plastic V2 airbox clear the bracket, I don't see it causing a performance difference. The fiberglass won't be a easy to cut as the plastic one though.

Good point. I don't have the tools myself to do it so it sounds like more of a hassle.

Do you need any of the stock airbox parts to put the comptech cai on?
I have a '00 with an AEM cai that I want to replace with the comptech, i purchased the car with the aem so I have no stock airbox parts thats why the question.

There are two 'stock' parts that come to mind -

The rear mounting bracket for the airbox (in case you removed it since it was no longer necessary) and the air control solenoid, which you most likely relocated (car wouldn't work properly without it). There's a bit of replacing hoses (crankcase vent, etc) but, these are all 'remove' operations from stock, so either you did the same for the AEM, or you should still be able to do them.
