On our drag car back in '74 we had a adjustable oil switch(set at 50 lbs) hooked up to a bright light that I could see even in the daylight going down the strip. We had that so we didn't lose a engine because of low oil pressure. If my '06 S used oil, that would be one of the first things I'd put on my car. I would get a LED light and put it where I would see it any time it turned on, I wouldn't care if it was on at idle, I would want it to tell me if my oil pressure started to drop in the higher rpm's so I could save my engine.
It was a oil switch like this and hooked up real easy.

In the two years I've had my S I can't tell you how many engines have gone south because of low oil pressure just on S2KI alone.
I hope your engine is all right but I would get a UOA, that will tell you a lot.

First thing to go on the s2k engine are the connecting rod bearings.

If it knocks on startup, damage is done.

A very skilled tech can fix it in two hrs, but you can not drive the car anymore. Maybe 5-10 mins easy to thwe shop and thats it. If you were near I can save it.

on the s2k, when you see the light 90% of the time its too late.

Three quarts low?? Christ all mighty.. and no visible leaks?? I cant believe burning oil that much isn't making the car smoke at all either... like Eremoy asked, how long did it take to burn that much oil ? Im a fanatic if mine dips even one X below the fill line I top it off...
An average decade-old AP1 will use that in 3000-4000 miles.

Not mine... I barley budge one hex on the stick in 5K miles...

then again my motor isn't the original and with no way for me to know how many miles my newer motor has, it may be the reason why I don't burn oil yet. My motor was replaced sometime before 50K with a factory replacement..the odo says 90K but I may only have 50K on the motor itself..

I don't understand how these engines burn so much oil. My 00 has 130k miles and burns no oil to speak of. What are people doing to their engines?

Damn sucks, this is why i check my oil every tank fill up at gas station, get funny looks at times....if motor was making odd sounds good chance something is going to go soon like bearings, if was my engine id take apart for a rebuild. But first drain current oil check for metal!

Your car does not burn oil because you have a factory replacement engine, with updated frm process. Basically, your block is AP2 spec 2.0L.
