Default Vibration coming from the rear end

Hello all

The problem im having with my ap1 is im getting some pretty nasty vibrations coming from the rear of the car. The vibrations are at its worst when the car reaches about 60 mph under very light acceleration load.

Now before anyone says anything, ive checked the "inner cv bucket" things for the notorious "pitting" there was nothing, the buckets are free from pits. So i put them back together with some redline grease.

The tires are balanced, i recently had them balanced.

My cv joints themselves are fine.

So im hitting a wall, i have no idea whats left to check. Could it be my differential? Or maybe the driveshaft?

Any insight would ve greatly appreciated.

I would try a different set of wheels/tires before ruling those out.

Have u taken off the driveshalf recently or had someone work on ur car n they had to take it off? If so, it might have not been align correctly.

What he said check prop shaft, if it was removed. Rust at the back cause an uneven seating.

Did you have the wheels balanced because of this vibe issue? If not, did issue start after the balancing? Maybe they did it wrong. Has happened to me too many times.

No the problem was around prior to the balancing.

Is a tire out of round or flat spotted?

I always feel like there's more to the story than was given in the OP, making this a useless guessing game.

The CV axles, what type of Grease did you use not brand? How much, and did you swap them from one side to the other?

Check the differential mounts and hardware to make sure everything is tight. The diff its self is rare to vibrate. Also the rear shocks can cause this issue as well.

My son's 04 has a vibration/rumble upon acceleration, especially noticeable during Vtec in lower gears.
From the reading I've done, I was told it was the CV joints, and is common enough on the S when it gets higher mileage.
My son's 04 he bought last August a year ago, only has 79k miles, and he has put only less than 2k miles on it in that time.
