Does Vortec make a 9lb pulley? Has anyone tried running it? How would it work with a stock motor? I am running an emanage, but is there anything i should worry about if i decide to go higher boost? would i need to upgrade the injectors???
any info would help thanx

Whether or not Vortech make a 9lb pulley you can certainly get them. JasonXXXXX used to sell them.

The E-manage is ideal for this sort of application, but you may also have to upgrade injectors.

Build a bridge and get over it. Just because you have a gripe with Xviper is no reason why the rest of us should put up with your foot stamping.

Don't bother with 9 psi. You'll only blow your motor. Stick with stock boost or suffer with a trashed motor.

 

I don't have experience in a boosted S2k so what I have to say may not hold much water... however I do have experience with other cars which were boosted, and from what I've learned...

1. Don't rely on kits to supply the best combination of parts to maintain reliability. In other words, don't just bolt in on and leave it as so. It's always a good idea to have it checked out professionally to have at least your AF ratios tracked. I used to monitor EGT's very carefully.

2. Piggy-back solutions aren't as effective as fully programmable units like the AEM EMS, the only difficulty is finding a good tuner who has the necessary experience (I know we don't where I'm at).

3. Larger injectors should also be installed along with adjustable fuel pressure regulators (if you don't have one already).

4. It's never a bad idea to strengthen valvetrain components, even if you're running at normal boost levels.

5. Supplemental oil cooling helps a lot. If you own a pre-MY02 (and affected MY02) S2000's, I think that upgrading your 2 hole banjo bolts to the 4 hole version would be a good thing to do.

 

I started with the stock Comptech kit. It seems to run safely rich. That said, it's always good to have it checked out on the dyno. Better safe than sorry.

Then went smaller pulley (8lb), 440cc injectors, and E-manage. Unlike conventional piggy backs the E-manage can drive the injectors so it isn't as limited as the V-AFC.

Next step is AEM, even smaller pulley and 550cc injectors. A lot of patience and a bit of luck is what is required. Oh, and people who know what they are doing.

 

Vortech doesn't make a 9psi pulley. I believe Gary Rudolph, Big Purp, and JohnsS2k are all using 9psi pulleys. They are also all using AEM EMS. I believe there was a Gb on 9psi pullies from Tech2. I'm also pretty sure ASP Racing has made some.
