Does anyone know how many miles a vortech should be driven before it can be considered broken in?? Also at what RPM max.

Ummm...I don't think there is a break-in period for the Vortech SC. I sure as heck didn't do any break-in period.

i have read through a search on here that that is a noticeable difference. i went with densio IK-27's for my comptech kit but haven't got it yet. hopefully next week

 

I don't believe a Vortech S/C has a set break-in period, however, the manual does say that it is important to do a belt re-tighten once 400-600 miles has been achieved. After this initial re-tightening, there is no set interval, just as needed. So kinda took this as a "sort of" break-in.
My stock plugs were quite new (plug recall) when the S/C went in. I just re-gapped them and after about 3000 miles, are still working well.

 

I was misfiring a lot at 8k+ RPM's with the stock plugs. I went with the NGK Racing plugs and have had great luck with them (touch wood). The model number for the NGK plug is R5672A-8.

 

For me the stock plugs were running way too hot and I tried the Denso IK-24's did the same thing. I went with the NGK Racing plugs which are one heat range colder, the same model number that VTEC Racer listed above. So far the plugs have been looking normal when I pull them for inspection. I re-gapped the plugs for FI.

 

I just installed a vortech sc in my s2000with13,000km's.I was not aware of any breakin period.I have noticed it is becoming noisier after a month.The tech. at vortech responded to say they Do WEAR in a bit a gradually develope a bit of noise.He said as long as it works and isn't grinding it's okay

 

The S/C belt needs to be checked and tightened after about 600 klicks, then periodically after that. So, if anything, the belt kinda needs to break in.

 

What would the new spark plug gap be for FI?
