When you oil the K&N filter
You make a very valid point here.
(There is a way to ensure that you never over-oil a re-useable air filter. )

done that already and it does work.

now, how much did you pay to polish your BOV or did you do it yourself?

I was thinking about polishing mine but the intake polishing left my wallet too thin to polish something else.

I just turned mine upsidedown. AC line was wearing from the BOV. Oil filter was extremely oily and dark.

If you don't have an oil catch tank, oil from blow by will spray out when the BOV opens. At least that was the case with my setup.

Thank Xviper for the tip.

You may have simply purchased the "satin" kit. Vortech offered both satin and polished. The satin one is a couple hundred bucks cheaper.

I completely forgot about this. I have a catch can, so let me apologize for my previous comment about just compressed air coming out the BOV. Without a catch can, that air is potentially filled with oil vapours.

No, I bought a polished kit. What I meant to say when I polished my kit was that of course my kit came polished, but the polished wasnt great, at least my kit wasnt. so i just spent some time to bring out more shine.

The hat as I call it on my BOV came blue and everything else is unpolished.

Xviper, from looking at the pics, everything on your BOV is polished from top to bottom correct? I want to make sure I am looking at it correctly before I call Vortech and ask the question why I didnt get a polished BOV.

And as far as the catch can I do have a catch can, however the residue from the filter (for example) if you oil it too much and even doing letting it dran on paper, you will still get some unclean air out of the filter which is minimal.

Can you post a picture. Perhaps you were screwed or they did a poor job of quality control on your kit.
Mine gets pretty filthy due to the vented hood and rain, but it all comes out really shiney, even with just Windex.

actually just realized that Slows2k may have the same exact BOV as me.

It defenitely has the same blue hat but the finish I cant tell though

Slows2k, is the finish on your BOV polished or unpolished?
