Default VSA Code 27-1

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to owning a s2k but my car got its VSA light on with the "!" next to it. I went to honda to check it out and they said its most likely the Steering Angle Sensor Failure and that they need to run more checks on it but the extra diagnosis is another $147. On the paper I asked for, it says, Confirmed DTCs (Permanent) 27-1 Steering Angle Sensor Failure. They said its most likely an alignment issue but they're not sure and that I need to have them further diagnose it to be certain what the problem is. So can any of you out there please help me out if you've had this problem too? Oh I have a 2006 S2000. I was wondering if those of you who have run into this problem too just let the dealership do more checking or is there a cheaper way of going around this like just trying out the alignment to see if that will take the VSA{!} away. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
- Erik
