Default Wack the map sensor

I been reading a lot here about "wack the map sensor"
What does it means?
Is the map sensor being problematic parts in the s2000 and you need to bang it a little to wake up?

"Whacking" it or "Banging" should really just be synonymous with "tapping". All you're really doing is loosening some of the buildup in the sensor. And putting the cable tie on there just keeps the harness clipped tight.

Wow...my first sentence sounds awfully sexual....

I'm new to s2000...sorry.
I've seen a few word "wacking" instead of whacking --- now I understand.

Thank you.
Perhaps I have map sensor issue too and in need of whacking!!
My car will idle momentarily and die. Good fuel pressure......most of the time just cranking no starting!!!

I don't think you should clean the map sensor with carb cleaner. I could be wrong.

Try cleaning again with Electronic Parts Cleaner (will evaporate), re-install. Replace or wipe clean the O-ring and Shin-Etsu it. Torque to 2.5 lbf-ft and careful not to drop it.

If this does not work, may need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Shin-Etsu is a brand of silicone grease specified (by name) by Honda for the soft rubber parts and seals on the car. Has Honda part number label ( 08798-9013 ) on top of the Shin-Etsu box. The noun has become a verb here.
