Default Water in trunk under the tool kit.....hmmm.

So I pulled my tool kit out the other day, and alas, there was water in the bottom of the trunk. I poked around under the car, and can't see any missing body plugs or any other spot where water could get in. Has anyone else had this issue? The car is still pretty new, so all the seals look good. It's under warranty, so I can take it in, but would first like to see if anyone had any ideas.

You may want to check the seal around the brake lights and the seal around the air vents behind the bumper cover. It seem to be a common issue with the S2k

Pull the trunk liner and check for rust. It's better you look now for peace of mind, IMO.

Awesome, thanks guys. I'm still under warranty, so I may have the dealer install a new vent, then I will seal it according to the FAQ. Thanks.

I had a similar problem and it was from 2 places. First, someone had made a hole under the spare tire. Why I have no idea, but they only way to find it was to remove all the trunk lining. second, it was leaking in from the back edge of the top. The drains on each side were plugged with dirt and there was a tear in the fabric of the top down where I couldn't even see it.

I messed with that silly vent thing after reading all about it on here, but that wasn't the problem. If your trunk gets water in it while the car is sitting still, it's the top. If it's only while driving, then it could be the vent.

Good luck.

one more thing. take the tool kit out. it's taking up a ton of your tiny trunk. wrap the tools in an T shirt and store them in the middle of the spare tire. sell the foam holder on Ebay. done.
