Water under the hood?

Water under the hood?
The first few times I washed the car I was surprised by the amount of water that got in the engine bay. A fair amount of water would get on the sides of the engine bay, but not on the engine. Since I use a leaf blower to dry the car, I just pop the hood and blast the water.
Today we had a ton of sideways rain and I popped the hood once I got into the garage at home and found a bunch of water on the sides of the engine bay again.
How does it get there? Maybe my hood isn't adjusted so that it fits tight enough to the body? Ideas or opinions would be helpful.

I think you are just fine, water will always be able to find its way under the hood. The only seals on the hood are at the front and rear, the sides are open for water and air to flow freely. Water under the hood is doing no damage other than waterspotting so just shine it up and be happy Road spray is also able to work its way up from underneath the engine.

That shouldn't be a problem. when cleaning the engine/bay area, you spray the whole thing down with water, so the bit of water from rain/car wash isn't going to hurt..

my filter is usually wet after a car was and or rain, but i never had a problem as long as its not drenched and sucking nonstop water, if your that concerned put on a bypass valve.
