Hello boys... im due for a coolant flush in the spring. Im here at home watching my fav car show Wheeler Dealers and Ed just used a waterless coolant in a TR6. Apparently waterless coolant never has to be changed and is better for a car. The link states " Eliminates water-causing corrosion, electrolysis and cavitation. One successful installation provides cooling protection for the life-time of the engine, reducing maintenance time and expense. "

Has anyone used this coolant in the S??

 

You have to get ALL the water out of the engine, heater no water anywhere.
I have a buddy that uses Evans coolant in a 496 ci B/B and his car does not over heat even when its 100F outside. His radiator has a 3# or 4# cap so I don't think he will ever blow a hose.

Is it worth all that trouble? Most of us get by with regular coolant with a change every 5 - 7 years and it works just fine.

 

I see your point, but the water pump in my car went out at 50K and the previous owner had told me it was corroded, like you see in the video clip. I was looking at this as something to do as preventative maintenance...

 

It is more than likely propylene glycol. Can be run non-pressurized due to high boiling point. It has a specific heat capacity of about half that of water IE each unit of water can store double the amount of energy(heat) as propylene glycol. Propylene glycol and water does support bacterial growth which is what causes the "gummy-ness". To avoid that ensure that pH is in balance. The system will undoubtedly accrue water so if running straight you will need to flush periodically. Water is physically a better cooling medium.

 

When you have people like Jay Leno putting it in million $ cars(I believe he uses it in all his cars), its good stuff and it stops corrosion everywhere in the engine.

I believe based on the reading I did its a solid product. But like it was said above would I want to go through all the trouble? maybe..if I had a garage and the time...but im not a car guru like most of you so I didn't even know there was such a thing as waterless coolant for a car.
