Default weird problem getting serious

So I have this interesting problems...

Ill be going, doesnt matter which gear or what speed, as long as im not in VTEC

If i try to accelerate, the car feels like it has very little power, with MASSIVE dips in the power band, like WOT and in multiple areas, your head will bob forward and then back like your engine breaking and then hitting the accelerator again real quick.

If your trying to maintain a steady speed (IE: 35mph in 3rd gear at about 3500-4000rpms or whatever it is) and you keep your foot steady on the pedal, it will jump up and down in a range of about 400rpms (4 bars on the tach) it will bob up and down over and over quickly, making you look like your head banging to metallica... not good. A good way to replicate this in your own car, is to put it in first gear and rev it to 4kish and hold it at a steady speed, then slightly push down and let back up off the acclerator over and over again very rapidly, where it starts jumping up and down. When its acting really bad, i have to either be constantly decelerating or accelerating in order to not make myself and/or the passenger throw up due to the constant back and forth motion. It is very intermittant (sp?) when it happens, it was happening the worst i have ever seen it on the way home today for about 10 minutes, and then at a stop light, i started off again and everything worked perfectly fine, i couldnt get it to replicate again.

Very frustrating

Mechanic friend hasnt experienced it, but with my explanation, he said it sounds like its misfiring, but if it were to misfire, it would throw a code. And i have NO CEL.

Changed oil 2 days ago, using 10-30 synthetic. I only run on 93 octane Shell gas. Air filter was cleaned 2 days ago. outside temps are about 60-80 when it has happened.

Anyone have any ideas? I dont know what to do since theres no code. Im going to switch out the spark plugs tomorrow to see if that helps. any help is GREATLY appreciated.. i hate having a nice car like ours that is running like a 300k mile geo metro

This sounds like the same problem I had. It was very annoying because it was so intermittent and it didn't put up a code. I finally took it to my mechanic, explained the problem in as much detail, he looked up some Honda bulletins, found something similar. The MAP sensor was replaced and now the car runs like new.

Would you describe it as "bucking"?

I think you should be smoother on your driving inputs....when I was looking around for s2000s to purchase, I test drove a yellow one and it did the same thing. I didn't feel like messing with any problems, so I purchased the one I have now instead...

The s2000 is a lot more sensitive to driver inputs than other cars, but good luck in figuring out the problem, make sure you post up the resolution once you get it figured out!

Yup.
thats a BRILLIANT word for it, lets coin that phrase, this is now officially called the 'Honda Buck' lol

Beware, i walked into Honda today to buy a map sensor and they wanted $97 for one and had to order it. I said no thanks, and thought i would check hardtopguy and others to see if i can get it for cheaper

100 bucks seems a little steep for a peice of plastic the size of a quarter
