Weird rattle noise
Hey when I bought my S I noticed a rattle noise only sometimes when I'm in lower gears maybe bc I can't hear it when I'm in higher gears my friend said maybe something with the clutch, sounds like something is lose. Its like something metal hitting the ground a few times like and it only hapens every so often and more if I'm not careing how I shift via soft or pushing it, it's kinda annoying wonder if anyone knows anything about this I've looked under the car it's not anything dragging. It drives fine and i pushed it many times i dont feel there is anything wrong perforance wise i had a mec look at it and he said there was nothing wrong but i dont know how well he checked it out via test drive ect.
Thanks Craig |
Do you hear it when decellerating in 2nd or 3rd?
If so: that's clutch buzz. Mechanically harmless, its caused by loose clutch disk springs, they allow a resonance in the gearbox while decellarating. You have to be more specific if that's not it. :hello: |
could also be a slightly ripped motor mount, there is a black plate between the mount and bracket and that can rattle a bit if the mount is broken.

Ive never noticed it while decelerating really in lower gear and only really notice when i first shift, harder to hear now with my exhaust but i was wondering if could be anything that could harm the engine over time.
ive heard it in R 1 2 3 so idk if that helps |
