Default welded diff

figure ill throw up a thread, I had diff problems about 5k ago, after taking it all apart i found the LSD gears in pieces along with seals in pieces (95k miles) So i decided with my fathers TIG welding experience we would weld it. 5k Later i have had 0 problems other than going through tires!

its honestly very hard to get it to a "oh shit" situation. fairly similar driving with the lsd aside from slow parking lot turns, in which case it chirps a bit.

that and the fact that the car wants to go straight when u turn it. i mean if ur cool with it more power to u. but i dont find welded diffs to be too practical for anything but a drift missile

haha yes that is true, The reason for welding it was all of the gears in the lsd somehow got sheared basically so it has been a cheap fix (free) for the rest of the summer months here in PA. Weird the diff that was in it was just put in 15k ago and the one before that had 75k on it before it went. I figured why waste another $600 on another one.

Those welds look great, so I'm sure this diff will last a while. I personally didn't really like the welded diff on my S13, but that's just personal preference.

Doing burnouts must be awesome with these!
But squeeking on every turn would drive me insane!
