Default What about ALUMEX Rollbars??

I have been reading a whole bunch of threads regarding RollBars and safety. The biggest complaints are that the stock ones are too low.

I found this link online, and I haven't seen anyone mention these hoops on the threads. These guys make rollbars for most roadsters including the Stook. Just wondering if someone could take a look at them and tell me if they are any good. Good meaning TALLER and SAFER than the stock hoops. (Im 6'2") Don't care much for looks.

Here is the link:

Looks pretty good but it does say that they're not being produced yet.

I think the reason why I like these is that they are still 2 separate hoops. Most of the aftermarket rollbars I have seen are 1 huge bar running across the whole car.

I wonder how long before production. Also, judging by how crappy the webpage is, they might already have it out but never bothered to update the webpage.

Anyone know anything about this?

In the photo the drivers helmet is still 2" over the rollbar. Where's the safety there?

two hoops are just two hoops, they do not make it a roll bar, no matter how rigid their construction.

there is someone in houston that had a custom roll bar put in his car, and it can be reproduced for $550.

when getting a roll bar of any kind, its important to determine why you want/need one and what are your requirements are before purchasing. if its because you are too tall and you want the hoop to cover your head, then that, in my opinion, would be one of the very few reasons you should consider such an option.

I was just looking at the Hoops for safety, not racing or anything. I figure if my head sticks out above the stock hoops that would not be considered too safe...

I'm having difficulty judging from the pictures if the Alumex ones are taller that the stocks.

I also heard some ppl comment that they were not allowed to autocross cause the stock hoops were just a bit too short on the stook. Maybe these things add that extra height without altering the looks of the car as much as some of the other options that are out there. I really don't care about the looks, and personally think the stock hoops look better than anything else I have seen anyway.

Of course its quite likely that the Alumex hoops are just a gimick and are strictly for looks. I dunno...these are all guesses; hence the quote below

They did say that the rollbars were basically "Photoshopped" in to the pictures. Maybe they'll make them a little taller.
